It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, those for the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not provided the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Then best known as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups conducted earlier and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 championship victory arrived three months after her first appearance and seven world titles have come from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it appeared my form was missing at all," commented Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point Healy was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was out her side needed 66 more at a run-a-ball - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if necessary, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament should hear.

In recent days a sense they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph succeeding victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as leader.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
