A number of individuals sustained injuries after a Delta jet traveling from LA to Sydney experienced rough air this past Friday.

Delta Flight 41 "went through a short bout of rough air" as it landed at the Sydney airport, a company official told. A number of the onboard staff sustained injuries.

Emergency medical services reported they treated five patients, and transferred a trio to the hospital with relatively minor issues that included pain in the back and migraines. The patients' ages ranged from their 30s to 70s.

The event represents the most recent case of aircraft being hit by atmospheric disturbance, with researchers indicating that shifting climate patterns is a significant contributor.

The aircraft was carrying 245 people and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the Delta spokesperson noted, stating that the plane arrived "safely" at Sydney Airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.

Emergency responders reported they received a call just three minutes before the plane touched down, and emergency vehicles were standing by on the runway.
